About Us

Welcome to the Midtown Atlanta Zendo: A Sanctuary for Mindful Living

At the Midtown Atlanta Zendo, we are a close-knit community who gather to engage in the the practice of Zazen and immerse ourselves in the  teachings of Buddhism, known as the Dharma.

Our gatherings revolve around the heart of Zen practice, Zazen, where we come together to sit in silent meditation. Guided by experienced practitioners, these meditation sessions offer gentle guidance for those new to the practice and a space of depth and renewal for seasoned participants. Rooted in the Japanese Soto-Shu Zen tradition, we embrace the essence of "shikantaza," the practice of simply sitting and being present, allowing each moment to unfold naturally, free from judgments and expectations.

Beyond our dedication to personal growth and self-awareness, we believe that our practice and the wisdom of the Dharma should extend beyond ourselves. In these seemingly troubled times, we aspire for our Zendo to serve as a refuge not only for us but for our families, communities, humanity, all living beings, and the environment. Through mindfulness and compassionate action, we seek to contribute positively to the world around us, fostering a ripple effect of peace, understanding, and interconnectedness.

As you join us at the Midtown Atlanta Zendo, you will find a supportive and inclusive space where differences are embraced, and individual journeys are honored. Together, we explore the profound teachings of Buddhism, drawing inspiration from the timeless wisdom that has guided seekers on the path to awakening for centuries. Whether you are taking your first steps on the journey of meditation or seeking to deepen your practice, we extend a warm invitation to you to become a part of our community, united in the shared pursuit of inner harmony and compassionate living. Welcome to our Zendo—a sanctuary for mindful living in the heart of the city.
